May 27 2012 // Abby and Chia’s 3rd playtime together
No chasing, though whenever they encountered each other, Abby would literally leap over Chia and run away.
Abby and Chia this afternoon.
We let them play together last night, which resulted in a lot of chasing (Chia chasing Abby, of course) but not much else. Hopefully that’s the start of a lifelong friendship, but I’ll be waiting a few days - and on some advice from the breeder - before I put them back together.
Gratuitous picture of Chia…
…who was in a very bad mood last night, she bit me a couple times and barked at us because I blocked off her bottom floor. She even escaped her cage and was free for a glorious 5 seconds before I caught her.
I didn’t know it was possible, but Chia seems to be getting more and more moody, and is acting out a lot.
Today is Chia’s first birthday! Look at how much she’s grown in 8 short months!
Abby Chinchilla // May 5 2012
’Why yes, I did dump out all my hay and leave a mess for you. What of it?’
Chia being her pesty self.
Yesterday we moved Chia into the office with us, so her cage is beside Abby’s. We didn’t complete the full 30-day quarantine because the way we did it, it wasn’t even really effective, and we have only one air conditioned room.
When we brought them together, neither chinchilla freaked out. There was no barking, no spraying and not even a whole lot of curiosity. I think it was because they could smell each other on our clothes and were used to the smells at this point. I’ve been watching their behaviors and so far everything has been great! They even talked a bit last night, it was very cute :)
(oh, and here’s a really blurry photo to celebrate the occasion!)
